Ulf Krüger
was born 03.09.1947 in Uelzen, Lower Saxony, singer / guitarist Ulf Krüger founded skiffle group The Owl City Washboardmen in 1960. Three years later, he joined local beat band The Randalls as a drummer.
In 1966 he got his matriculation and went professional with Some Folks for a few months, then he was drawn into the army.

While in the Bundeswehr, he re-joined the Randalls, now called 'William Thornton & The Chicago Sect', second winner of the Star-Club-band contest 67. From 69 until 72 he attended Hamburg Art School ' Staatliche Hochschule für bildende Künste'.
It was 1969, when he started 'Leinemann', Stern magazine wrote: 'With a mixture of ragtime, rock and skiffle, 'Leinemann' rings in a new era in the German pop scene'.
With this group he toured extensively and recorded lots of singles and more then ten albums including two backing British skiffle veteran Lonnie Donegan.

Besides his various activities including writing material for big name comedy stars, in 1986, Ulf Krüger became the manager for Astrid Kirchherr.
|
In 1988 he started K&K, representing many Rock'n'Roll- photographers, among them Sigi Loch, former Star Club records producer who shot lots of brilliant photos at the famous venue.
In 1991 Polygram records released Krüger's 20 LP/CD series 'The Hamburg Sound', a phonographic documentary of the sixties with booklets full of the groups' family trees, discographies and lots of information on the Hamburg scene, now a collectors item.

Krüger also did research for the Hamburg part of the Beatles Anthology and was the historical consultant for 'BackBeat', the film on Stuart Sutcliffe, Astrid and The Beatles in Hamburg.

Ulf Krüger also worked on a couple of projects for Genesis Publications, including 'B.I.G - Beatles in Germany' and the fine art limited edition book "Hamburg Days".

In cooperation with the Estrel Hotel in Berlin Ulf Krüger organised the extraordinarily successful "Estrel-Beatles-Festival" in 2002, 2003, and 2005, and 2004 the "Ruhr Beatles Festival" in Essen.
Also from 2004 on Ulf Krüger is in charge of the sections music and business of the John Lennon Talent Award of the German insurance company Itzehoer Versicherungen.
Together with Uwe Mammimga and Kuno Dreysse Ulf Krüger established the events called "Eine Nacht im Star-Club" (One Night at the Star-Club) in Downtown Bluesclub in Hamburg in 2005.
At the HamburgMuseum (former "Museum für hamburgische Geschichte") in collaboration with K&K is running currently the special exhibition "The Hamburg Sound - Beatles, Beat und Große Freiheit" from June, 3rd until November 5th 2006 with a three-day opening festival. Special guests were:
Cynthia Lennon, Astrid Kirchherr, Klaus Voormann, The Original Quarrymen, Achim Reichel, Kingsize Taylor and the Dominoes, The Rattles and many more. In connection with the exhibition Ulf Krüger and Dr. Ortwin Pelc of the HamburgMuseum relased the book "The Hamburg Sound", and a CD called "The Hamburg Sound" was released by Bear Family Records, producer Ulf Krüger.
